Nova Thornhill is a curator, cultural critic, and Afrofuturist based in Portland whose work centers Black perspectives, cultural analysis, and imagining better futures for sexuality and alternative lifestyle communities. With a background in Black studies and cultural criticism, Nova brings intersectional race analysis to venue reviews.

Having visited over 85 venues with a focus on how they serve—or fail—Black and POC communities, Nova's reviews address issues of representation, cultural competency, racial dynamics in predominantly white spaces, and whether venues authentically welcome diversity versus perform inclusion.

Nova's curatorial work has been featured in exhibitions exploring Afrofuturism and Black excellence. Their writing has appeared in publications like Complex, The Root, and Black feminist platforms. Nova believes that alternative lifestyle spaces can be sites of liberation and joy for Black folks—but only when they're willing to do genuine anti-racist work and create spaces where Black people can truly thrive.
